Haircuts for long hair?

I really want to change my hair, but I already dyed it and such, so I don't want to do anything like that soon [its currently black and goes halfway down my back]. Soooo. I want to cut it. My hair is obnoxiously thick, and has a slight wave to it..so uhm... any suggestions? Pictures would be helpful, but you don't have to if it's hassle. Thanks ^^

Get it thinned, layered and get sidebangs. You can never go wrong with that style.
